The World Around You - Photography Camp

October 07, 2015

Thanks to a very special outreach from the Morris Museum of Art, Communities In Schools Augusta Richmond County was able to offer a terrific opportunity for 43 young people to experience a very interactive, hands-on arts program in the summer 2015. The goal was to teach campers the fundamentals and the art of photography. Students were encouraged to view the world around them with a new perspective.

Each week-long camp was taught by instructor and photographer Michael Johnson and assisted by Morris Museum staff and volunteers from our organization. The experience focused on learning about the Augusta area, some of its history and how to use a camera to compose unique images and document our community.
The Fourth Annual Photo Discovery Project hosted by the Morris Museum of Art geared to youth ages 10-15 years of age was made possible through the generosity of the Rotary Club of Augusta, Busby’s Heating and Air, Dr. Gerald Woods, Frank Christian, and the Nikon Corporation. The camp was made available to two local organizations serving children, Communities In Schools Augusta Richmond County and the Boys and Girls Club of the CSRA.
