Gratitude Abounds

Gratitude abounds as we announce the presence of a truly amazing piece of art now on display at RISE

Augusta in the HUB thanks to Pat Knox Hudson!

This unique and wonderfully crafted kimono was designed by the talented Caroline Garrett Hardy. It is on display for all of our big and little visitors to see. Actually, we could not have found a better reading magnet! Each moon is really a flap and when it is lifted, there is a poem to read depicting the pictures on the kimono. The children or their tutor reads the poem aloud and then everyone looks for all of the characters. It has created quite a bit of fun and ongoing conversation!

What a fun testimony to the power of art. It inspires, it teaches and it delights us all.

The Owl and the Pussycat

By Edward Lear

The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
O lovely Pussy! O Pussy my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
You are,
You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!
